ERO prepared an environmental assessment for upgrades to the existing City of Durango Wastewater Treatment Plant located on the Animas River in La Plata County, Colorado. Working with the CDPHE, ERO addressed several environmental issues for the project, including:
- Public scoping and outreach
- Section 7 compliance-Endangered Species Act
- Development of facilities within the 100-year floodplain
- Concerns on water quality voiced by the Southern Ute Indian Tribe
- Emergency preparedness in the event of a flood or sewer overflow event
- Summarizing the City’s public outreach and evaluation of alternative sites for the plant
- Section 106 compliance-National Historic Preservation Act
