In 2018, ERO assisted Eagle County Open Space with the development of a long-range management plan for the newly-acquired ranch property adjacent to Eagle, Colorado. Through a comprehensive public and stakeholder engagement process, ERO developed management strategies that balance agricultural stewardship, wildlife habitat protection, vegetation and habitat restoration, and public trail access to the 1,540-acre property. These recommendations were documented in a comprehensive management plan.
This planning process and balanced plan was cited by local Colorado Parks and Wildlife officer to be the “most progressive attempt to balance recreation and wildlife needs ahead of time” and should serve as a “prototype for future trail development”. (5280 Magazine, August 2019).
